KAUST Proposes Generative Late-Interaction Embeddings to Compress Visual Document Retrieval Vectors

KAUST · hf · 2026-09-11

KAUST released Generative Late-Interaction Embeddings For Visual Document Retrieval on Hugging Face. The method learns a small basis set that can regenerate full late-interaction embeddings on demand, compressing storage requirements for visual document retrieval. Key finding: it improves retrieval accuracy under tight storage budgets without retraining the encoder.
