OpenAI pauses $200 Pro subscriptions as Astra demand pushes OpenRouter spend share to 31%

OpenAI announced it is pausing new subscriptions to its $200 Pro plan, saying it puts the most strain on systems and that this is the smallest step to keep broad access to Astra; existing accounts, other plans, and the API are unaffected while capacity is added. Meanwhile, OpenRouter data shows OpenAI captured 31% of all dollars spent over the past 48 hours—a new all-time peak, up from 28% in July.
