NVIDIA open-sources BioNeMo Inference Runtime, saving 1.35 GWh across 31M protein predictions

NVIDIA Health announced the open-source BioNeMo Inference Runtime (BioIR), a GPU-accelerated inference runtime for fast, memory-efficient structure prediction of proteins, nucleic acids, and ligands from FASTA/MSA inputs. Running 31M protein complex predictions with BioIR saves an estimated 1.35 GWh of energy — equivalent to 18,000 EV battery charges or 5.4M miles of EV driving. Code is on GitHub with an accompanying tech blog.
