OpenAI said Wednesday night that, following its completed work related to Navier-Stokes, it has made "substantial progress on another Millennium Prize problem" and is figuring out "how to share these results thoughtfully."
Per the New York Times, the work involves mathematician Tristan Buckmaster. The Millennium Prize Problems are seven problems carrying $1M bounties each, and the earlier Navier-Stokes result already sparked debate in the math community about rigor. The identity of the new problem remains undisclosed.
