lid-plane: open-source macOS menubar app replicates the lid-angle progressive blur animation
jh3yy · x · 2026-09-11
Developer jh3y open-sourced lid-plane: a tiny macOS menubar app that replicates the MacBook's "folding animation" — a lid-angle-driven progressive blur held over your desktop. Stop moving the lid and it re-anchors; apps stay clickable with keyboard focus intact.
Details:
- Menubar app toggled with ⌃⌘L, no Dock icon
- Requires an Apple Silicon MacBook with a readable lid angle sensor (macOS 13+; support varies by model)
- Needs Screen Recording permission; experimental v0.2.0 ZIP available, single-commit repo
