Neil Chilson: doomer AI arguments fail on complex systems in three ways
neil_chilson · x · 2026-09-10
In his critique of Yudkowsky and So8res's AI doomer book, Neil Chilson argues the authors fundamentally misunderstand complex systems, leading them to believe steering the world merely requires being smart. He says this flaw undermines their argument three ways: they wrongly assume complex systems are inherently dangerous, underestimate how hard existing complex systems push back against steering, and miss the fundamental limits complex systems impose on prediction.
