Alex Heath, the tech journalist known for heavyweight interviews and consumer-tech scoops, is joining Guy Oseary's Sound Ventures as a partner, officially hanging up his "capital J journalist hat."
- Sound Ventures is raising a $300 million fifth fund, with a first close expected this month;
- The WSJ previously reported Ashton Kutcher is leaving Sound to launch Decimal Capital with former a16z GP Morgan Beller;
- Heath's newsletter/podcast Sources, launched after he left The Verge in September 2025, has generated over $1 million in revenue (mostly sponsorships). He'll keep running it independently — and will cover some startups he invests in.
He arrives on a high note: fresh interviews with Zuckerberg and Altman, plus a Time cover story profiling Altman. It's his first-ever investing role.
