a16z announced it is leading a $30M Series A in Highstock, an AI-powered B2B marketplace for excess consumer inventory.

Every consumer brand over-forecasts and ends up sitting on unsold stock worth trillions globally. Traditional exits — discounters or outright destruction — erode brand equity. Excess inventory is a messy, unstructured matching problem with no comps or standard pricing, exactly what AI is now good at.

Traction: in just over a year, $1B+ in inventory listed, 100+ major brands (60% of volume from $500M+ revenue conglomerates), 100+ vetted wholesale buyers, and 10M+ pounds of product diverted from landfills. Founders came from Instacart; beauty is the beachhead, apparel launching now.
