Apsarath Chandar argued AI itself won't kill us — evil humans and companies misusing AI could — so regulation should target people and companies rather than fear-mongering about the technology. BlackHC countered with the paradox: if the worriers succeed in preventing bad outcomes, they'll be able to claim they were right from the beginning — the value of safety efforts is hard to verify.
