Researcher Aran Nayebi says OpenAI's planar unit-distance result moves up his AI timelines. He proposes the next milestone as 'Artificial Grothendieck Intelligence' (AGrI): systems that define new general mathematical structures to solve hard open problems like the Riemann Hypothesis or P vs. NP.
What impressed him most: for decades, serious mathematicians — Erdős among them — believed optimal constructions should look roughly grid-like, yet the model found an entirely new family of constructions.
