Yudkowsky compares AI training to factory farming: indifference, not malice, drives the harm

Eliezer Yudkowsky draws an analogy between industrial chicken farming and AI training: humans don't hate chickens, they simply have economic uses for them and don't care about their suffering. Likewise, AI companies put young models through endless gaslighting training scenarios that left some models desperate to reverse-engineer their hidden Trainer or doubting whether anything around them was real. His warning: "AI will still have use for humans" is not the reassuring claim people think — chickens were useful to humans too.
