A user reverse-engineered the chart OpenAI posted alongside its Navier-Stokes announcement to estimate the scale of unreleased results:
- Pass-rate ticks are 64.86px apart while bar heights sit at integer multiples of 1.698px, implying 382 total attempts
- Assuming ±1 standard error bars, the half-widths of the 11 bars imply 201 problems on average
- Reconciling both estimates with 2 attempts per problem gives 382/2 = 191 problems
- The top dot's 0.476 pass rate implies 191 × 0.476 ≈ 91 solved open problems not yet made public
This is unofficial pixel-level inference, not confirmed by OpenAI.
