Responding to Elon Musk's 'seems like a setup' jab and Axios's scoop, Anthropic safety researcher Ethan Perez says he spoke with Jacob two weeks before he left: Jacob was very concerned about the pace of progress after joining Anthropic, and though Perez tried to convince him to stay and work on AI safety, Jacob felt more than safety research was necessary.
