NY lawmaker accuses OpenAI of claiming it supported bills it lobbied against

NY Assemblymember Alex Bores slammed OpenAI's government affairs post by Chris Lehane, which calls for "mandatory, capability-based national regulation" of leading labs while continuing state-level pushes. Bores alleges OpenAI's pattern on AI bills: try to kill them, water them down, then endorse at the last second — and says the company's claim to have "supported" bills it lobbied against only deepens lawmakers' rightful distrust, squandering a chance to rebuild credibility.
