- Geoffrey Hinton has admitted his earlier prediction that AI would replace radiologists was wrong.
- The AI itself largely worked as expected: machines became very good at reading scans.
- What was missed is the economics: cheaper, faster scans led to more scans, not fewer radiologists — AI can automate a task without automating the job.
