OpenAI math-model data controversy: dev argues even unsolved frontier chats are valuable research data

Amid the controversy over OpenAI allegedly training on two mathematicians' chats, developer ctjlewis pushes back on the dismissal of that data: even if the mathematicians didn't solve the problem, the chats capture AI-pilled frontier mathematicians interrogating the same problem — and, as he understands it, OpenAI's proof was downstream of that earlier work. He still sympathizes with the outrage ("these guys need a kick in the ass") and notes attribution seemed to be offered.
