Photographer argues Meta's AI image labels aren't real detection — and erode trust in data
zemotion · x · 2026-09-10
Photographer zemotion suspects Meta doesn't run actual AI detection on images (too expensive, and "they don't care about any of us"), yet its labeling implementation is personally offensive to creators and makes people distrust science and data. The net effect, she argues, is chaos and desensitization: if people conclude they can't tell anyway, AI or not, "if I like it it's fine" — and if that's the goal, it's working.
