A researcher who spent three years doing pretraining work at both OpenAI and Anthropic announced their resignation from Anthropic, accusing both labs of acting irresponsibly and racing straight toward self-improving superintelligence.

George Hotz (tinygrad) quote-shared the resignation, arguing that stopping is not an option and that distributing the technology as widely and quickly as possible beats leaving it in the hands of tech companies. More reflections from the departing researcher are promised to follow.
