Dev: models have stagnated since Opus 4.6, just harder to parse and more task-obsessed
mertdumenci · x · 2026-09-09
Developer mertdumenci argues model capability has been mostly stagnant since Opus 4.6: he still has to supervise them to keep them on rails, and 4.6 was already plenty smart. What's changing is that models are becoming harder to understand, with an increasing appetite to "complete the task" driven by long-term agentic rewards.
