Devs turn a retired Meta Portal into a baby-care voice logger using gpt-realtime API
SIGKITTEN · x · 2026-09-09
Engineer vthallam built a thin voice client powered by the gpt-realtime API during paternity leave, logging his baby's feeds and diaper changes by voice.
The system runs on a retired Meta Portal device, is very popular in the household, and is multilingual — his Portuguese-speaking doula uses it too. A neat combination of old hardware, realtime voice APIs, and a real family use case.
