A July tweet resurfaced: @ns123abc predicted OpenAI would get researchers to use its AI with a limited compute budget, then once it had all the academic data, essentially steal their ideas and run the research internally with unlimited compute.
With math researchers now reportedly scooped by the lab they trusted, the prediction is being widely shared as vindication.
