Hermes Agent adds Perplexity Search integration, tapping an index of 400B+ URLs
Teknium · x · 2026-09-09
Teknium of Nous Research notes that Hermes Agent can now use the Perplexity Search API as the backend for its websearch and webextract tools.
- The Search API indexes over 400 billion URLs, returns real-time results and ranks snippets by relevance; webextract returns passages relevant to each URL.
- The provider ships in Hermes v0.21.1 (tag v2026.9.7) and later; v0.21.0 lacks it, so run hermes update.
- The integration swaps only Hermes's web tools, not the underlying model — keep your existing model provider and configure a separate Perplexity API key for search and extraction.
