Dev argues Claude burns far more tokens than GPT models for the same coding work

A developer argues the obsession with "bigger models" every release misses what serious AI practitioners care about: token burn. He claims Claude models consume far more tokens on coding tasks, while GPT models often finish the same work cheaper with roughly 3x fewer tokens.
In his view, Opus 5.5 is the only model in Anthropic's lineup that feels worth using.
