Authorship controversy sparks debate over whether AI should solve math for humanity at all
Mihonarium · x · 2026-09-09
Mihonarium weighs in on the recent math authorship controversy: Tristan advocating Levent as lead co-author doesn't fit the scenario where Levent merely forwarded AI results through him as a human proxy.
He adds that AI companies using humans as proxies may be bad, and argues AI perhaps shouldn't solve math for us at all — except alignment-related work — since humanity solving these problems is more valuable than having them solved.
