These two have historically moved together.
Other signals conflict too: documentation quality and production debugging improved, but review turnaround slowed, incremental delivery dropped sharply, and PRs keep growing larger.
His takeaway: quality isn't moving uniformly. AI makes code easier to understand and modify, but larger, faster AI-generated changes undermine confidence that they're safe — a useful frame for teams measuring AI's impact on engineering.
