OpenAI allegedly pressured mathematician to drop Anthropic co-author from breakthrough paper

The Decoder reports mathematician Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI pressured him after his AI-assisted progress on the Navier-Stokes equations leaked: the company allegedly demanded he remove a co-author employed at Anthropic and threatened him when he refused, then claimed its own breakthrough using the same unusual solution path. Buckmaster had uploaded all drafts to Codex; OpenAI said the model didn't look up user data but gave no answer when asked about training data.
