DeepMind launches AlphaGenome Atlas: searchable predictions for all 9 billion genome variants

anshulkundaje · x · 2026-09-09

Google DeepMind unveiled AlphaGenome Atlas, a searchable resource of AI-generated predictions for all 9 billion possible single-letter changes across the human genome, now available for use. Verifying each variant experimentally would be nearly impossible. Collaborators including Julia Zeitlinger's lab at the Stowers Institute used the Atlas to study short DNA sequence "words" that control gene on/off switching, showing how it can reveal fundamental rules shaping gene activity across cell types.
