Dyson's CameraJet toothbrush packs camera, CV and ML into a $500 brush

Dyson's playbook: reuse a strong technology stack on everyday problems incumbents stopped questioning, which is why it spans vacuums, fans, purifiers, hair tools and now the CameraJet toothbrush — camera, computer vision, ML and sonic brushing with a software layer. The author questions whether the pain point justifies $500. Dyson has had spectacular failures (washing machine, EV, headphones) but treats them as part of aggressive experimentation, and the philosophy generates roughly $8B in annual revenue.
