iOS 26.5.2 blamed for iPhone overheating and battery drain — 5 settings to fix it

iOS 26.5.2 (shipped June 29) has triggered reports of fast battery drain and overheating. Updates force the phone to re-index every file and photo, spiking heat for days — but persistent drain often comes from settings users leave on. The recommended fixes: turn off Background App Refresh (biggest single drain), disable Apple Intelligence (it scans your entire photo library at full CPU load for days), set Location Services to "While Using" or "Never" per app, and enable Reduce Transparency and Reduce Motion to stop the GPU drawing iOS 26's glass effects every second.
