runwayml · x · 2026-09-08
Runway announced that the Kinetix team, a Paris-based AI research lab focused on 3D human motion and physically-grounded video generation, is joining the company to drive its robotics world model research and expand its European presence.
- Co-CEO Anastasis Germanidis says robotics will be one of the biggest applications of world models, and the next step is teaching models to act in the physical world.
- Kinetix spent six years betting that understanding how bodies move through space is a key open problem in AI.
- Runway argues large-scale video pretraining is the most efficient path to robotic generalization in novel real-world environments.
