D-Wave Finalizes Agreement with US Commerce Dept for Up to $100M in CHIPS Act Funding

D-Wave Quantum (NASDAQ: QBTS) has signed a definitive agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, unlocking up to $100 million under the CHIPS and Science Act to advance R&D for its superconducting annealing and gate-model quantum technologies.
- The funding targets next-generation systems, including a 100,000-qubit annealing machine aimed at optimization, materials simulation, blockchain and AI, plus a 10,000-qubit gate-model system
- CEO Alan Baratz said the award will expand domestic quantum capabilities, strengthen supply chains and accelerate commercialization
- D-Wave is the only company offering both annealing and gate-model quantum platforms
