Georgia Chalenti joined the Malik–Isola embodied-AI debate: she agrees hierarchy is an old idea in robotics and behavior systems, but embodiment doesn't disappear above the low-level controller. High-level reasoning still must adapt to what's physically plausible for a specific body, environment, and interaction — whether via persistent memory, online adaptation, or post-training remains open.
Her key rebuttal to Isola: assuming coding/VLM agents already possess this competence simply because humans supplied the right priors, tools, and abstractions is not demonstrated.
