FlareCore: a ComfyUI node pack for building cinematic lens flares element by element
Cyco_ai · reddit · 2026-09-08
The author released a beta of FlareCore, a custom node pack for creating and compositing lens flares in ComfyUI, inspired by Video Copilot's Optical Flares:
- Place a light source directly on the image and build flares from individual elements—glows, streaks, ghosts, rings, rays, textures—with a per-element editor and starting presets
- Works on stills and video, with tracking and optional depth-based occlusion
- Includes an Element Forge: generate custom textures with local Krea2 or GPT Image 2 and save them to the library; the flare renderer itself needs no AI model
- Presets were refined by studying real cinema lens flare references
The beta is on GitHub, with the author soliciting feedback and bug reports.
