Open-source Agent Skills Turn AI Coding Agents Into Indie Game Marketing Planners

Developer Garrett Petersen released indie-game-marketing-skills, an open-source repo of agent skills for planning and auditing the marketing of Steam-distributed indie games, from concept selection through post-launch.

The repo is intentionally opinionated: genre, scope, visual identity, and trailer-worthy vertical slices are treated as marketing decisions made before full production. Announcements, demo launches, festivals, and release-date reveals are framed as scarce marketing beats that should be coordinated rather than left to chance.

Four skills are included: a lifecycle marketing roadmap planner, a Steam store page auditor (positioning, capsules, tags, localization), a Steam tag optimizer built around players of similar games, and a trailer review skill mapping visual promises back to the actual build. Usage: symlink the repo into your game directory, ask the agent to build a marketing timeline, then daily ask what to do for marketing. It also covers pricing, regional localization, and Steam's Personal Calendar.
