tszzl: the ramp to superintelligence is nearly deterministic for any technological civilization

tszzl · x · 2026-09-08

In a discussion on Fermi paradox / great filters with allTheYud, tszzl says what's new to him: humanity seems to have discovered the ramp to superintelligence with relative ease, so any other technological species would likely arrive here nearly deterministically.

This follows the earlier point that AI is a bad great-filter candidate — machines capable of wiping out their creator species could presumably also spread through the stars. The implication: superintelligence may be a deterministic endpoint for technological civilizations.
