Warrior Quest demo hits Steam: local LLM plays only NPCs while game state stays deterministic
Rikkendo · reddit · 2026-09-08
Rikkendo, a software engineer and veteran DM, released Warrior Quest, a dark-fantasy RPG where the local LLM is limited to NPC emulation. Game state, world logic, quests, and the authored story are all handled by deterministic game systems — the design goal was tabletop-style free NPC conversation without handing canon to the LLM.
- All art, story, music, SFX, and source voice acting were made by the author; NPC dialogue uses TTS built on his own recorded voice
- Demo is live on Steam with 60-90 minutes of content
- Minimum requirement: a GPU with 8 GB of VRAM; fully local, no API key or cloud LLM needed
