DHH's Omarchy Linux launches foundation with $15.5M, betting on agent-powered troubleshooting

DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson) has formally launched the Omacom Foundation with $15.5M behind Omarchy, his Linux distribution pitched as "an operating system for the agentic era."
- Philosophy: Named after omakase ("chef's choice"), Omarchy ships a polished, opinionated desktop where an agent helps you modify, tweak, and troubleshoot by simply describing what you want — vibe coding applied to the OS itself.
- Install: As fast as 35 seconds on the quickest machines, under two minutes for most PCs; supports Windows dual-boot, unattended installs, and VM previews. Current release: 4.0.2.
- Low hardware bar: Runs smoothly on a 2011 ThinkPad X220 with 2GB RAM, revives old Intel Macs, and the Core team is optimizing for new hardware like Dell XPS laptops.
- Ecosystem: Thousands of community plugins already exist (desktop pet, AirPods manager, etc.); missing ones can be built by the agent and shared back.
