ChatGPT iOS voice mode reportedly played back another user's reply, sparking privacy alarm
Expert-Door8912 · reddit · 2026-09-08
A Reddit user reports that during a ChatGPT iOS voice conversation about Amazon Echo speaker pricing, right after the AI asked about their budget, it played back a voice reply to the same/similar question from another user ("Mhm, I was thinking of spending around 100 bucks right now, maybe less..."). The user force-closed the app in alarm.
They say attempts to reach OpenAI failed — the support chatbot wouldn't respond and no reliable contact channel exists. The claim is unverified, but if true it would point to a serious voice-session caching or cross-talk bug with privacy implications.
