Cloud APIs are already metered—micropayments just swap arrears for request-time payment

kleffew94 pointed out that all cloud resources and APIs are already metered and billed on usage today, and the supply side fully controls pricing and economics. Agentic micropayments change little economically—the only difference is billing at request time instead of the merchant taking on credit risk billing in arrears.
