Huawei unveiled the Mate XT 2, the first smartphone powered by a Kirin chip designed on a Tau Scaling Law, timed just ahead of new Apple and Xiaomi models in a fierce high-end foldable battle. It's also the first device running HarmonyOS 7, which entered developer beta in June with AI coding agents and began rolling out to existing Huawei phones this week. The move is framed as evidence that US tech controls have accelerated Huawei's self-developed stack.
