The Economist reports AI has added roughly 1 million new jobs in America since mid-2023, offsetting 200k AI-related job losses. About 1% of professional jobs are now 'AI jobs', rising to 4-5% in computer occupations and life sciences. LinkedIn analysis counts 640k new AI-specific jobs between 2023-2025, with much of the growth driven by the AI infrastructure spending boom. Scholars behind Messy Jobs argue apocalyptic job-loss predictions get the economics of work wrong.
