Cybercab strips transportation down to what autonomy actually needs, with Elon targeting roughly $25,000 at volume production. A Waymo vehicle is estimated around $150,000 once LiDAR, radar, cameras and compute are included—about 6 Cybercabs for the capital cost of one. Even if Waymo fully solves autonomy, the author argues it can't compete on vehicle cost, manufacturing speed, energy efficiency or fleet scale.
