Schmidhuber: LLMs are far from AGI — the physical world is far harder

Schmidhuber restates his view that LLMs like ChatGPT are far from AGI: they cleverly index humanity's existing knowledge in natural language, enough to handle many desktop jobs like summarizing documents or writing articles. True AGI goes further — replacing craftsmen such as plumbers and electricians is much harder because the physical world is far more challenging. For now, the only AI that works well lives behind screens, serving desk workers, not those in the physical world.
