WebMCP explained: giving in-browser agents a labeled front door instead of screenshot-clicking
thisiskp_ · x · 2026-09-07
- MCP recap: APIs are the loading dock; MCP standardized that dock so AI agents can plug into any service.
- The new problem: agents increasingly arrive through the "front door" — running in your browser inside your logged-in sessions (bank, CRM, store admin). But the web UI was built for eyes and hands, so agents resort to screenshotting, guessing, and clicking.
- What WebMCP does: the site itself registers labeled, standardized forms — "Search products," "Add to cart," "Checkout" — like a labeled order counter by the front door. The agent walks up and orders, no API keys or separate server needed, since it's already authenticated as you inside the page.
