Responding to the claim that OpenAI "won the AGI race," the author argues both Anthropic and OpenAI have already crossed the line — a gap of even two months is irrelevant when both hold multi-year compute contracts, and Anthropic's internal models may be far ahead of what's public. xAI, Meta and Google will follow: with enough compute, Astra-level models and researchers, "ASI" is just a matter of time. The real open questions: what does winning entail, when does the club stop admitting new members, and by what mechanism?
