TMNF-C: an MIT-licensed C-based TrackMania RL simulator with CUDA vector envs
adonis_singh · x · 2026-09-07
Developer adonis-singh open-sourced TMNF-C, a deterministic TrackMania Forever physics simulator for reinforcement learning written in C, MIT licensed (bring your own game assets).
- Physics runs at the game's fixed 100 Hz tick rate, with CPU and CUDA vector environments and Gymnasium bindings
- Ships PPO and TD3 training tools, supporting discrete and analog controls, checkpoint tracking, rewards, and automatic episode resets
- Tested on 212 Nations and United campaign tracks across all seven vehicle environments
- Snapshot mechanism enables rewind, state transfer between environments, and training from agent-reached states
- The author notes it's still a research project, though considerably further along than before
