Codex adds experimental cross-context memory: notes and history search via config flag
reach_vb · x · 2026-09-07
Codex now ships an experimental context management feature: it can keep notes across context windows and search earlier messages and tool outputs, including details missing from its notes — useful for long debugging sessions and large refactors. To try it: update Codex, select Astra, add [features.contextmanagement] experimentalmode = true to /.codex/config.toml, and restart. Requires a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Pro Lite sign-in.
