Quoting Hannah Arendt's concept of natality, @qorprate argues that AI succession and doom, mind uploading, transhumanism, life extension, and posthumanism all share one underlying stance: refusing the natal logic of entrusting the future to the new — either foreclosing novelty or foreclosing the future itself. Responding to @lisperati's feeling that things feel like "early COVID — normal, but about to change," he notes the irony that life proceeds as usual: the birth of a new form of mind came and went, and much remains the same as we head toward autumn.
