AI journalism is improving, says Read Transformer founder who launched it to fix coverage

Shakeel Hashim, who joined the Tarbell Center and started @ReadTransformer in February 2024, recalls that his main motivation was believing journalism was failing the public on AI coverage.
Quoting prominent AI commentator Nathan Labenz — who long criticized mainstream media for not treating AI with due gravity and now sees things changing, crediting journalist Dylan Freed — Hashim says there's still room to improve, but he is far less worried than he was then.
