Researcher on writing a book: old ML theory may explain why LLMs work
avt_im · x · 2026-09-06
Continuing the thread, @avtim explains his motivation for writing a book: at minimum, his field's traditional ideas may help us understand why LLMs work.
More fundamentally, he found those ideas compelling for a decade, so someone else likely will too. That person may not exist, but on the chance they do, he owes it to them to try — part of the same discussion where he argues today's systems are already AGI.
